The AI stack built for independent clinic owner-operators.

Scheduling, intake, referrals, insurance follow-up, and provider utilization — without an enterprise EHR rollout.

A three-provider clinic runs on an EHR (Jane, SimplePractice, Kareo, Dentrix, or whatever you inherited), a front desk that handles a hundred micro-decisions a day, and a billing person who spends half their week chasing denied claims. You're the owner-operator, the senior clinician, and the person who notices when no-shows creep over 12%. Your EHR does clinical documentation and billing well enough. What it doesn't do: triage new-patient inquiries from the contact form, draft the referral thank-you email, rebook the cancellation before the slot evaporates, flag the insurance follow-up that's been sitting 45 days, or show you which provider has open capacity next Tuesday. Enterprise practice-management add-ons assume you're a 30-provider group. Starch connects to your calendar, inbox, and the web-facing side of your EHR, and lets you describe the admin workflows on top — so the front desk isn't the only thing holding the operation together.

Workflows we cover for Independent Clinic Owner-Operators

Does Starch replace our EHR or PM system?
No. Jane, SimplePractice, Kareo, Dentrix, and most EHRs stay as the clinical and billing source of truth. Starch connects to your calendar, email, and the web-facing surfaces of your EHR (via browser automation where no API exists) and handles the admin and communication workflows your EHR wasn't designed for — intake triage, referral follow-up, insurance chase lists, provider utilization dashboards.
How does it help with no-shows and rebooking?
Describe your rebooking rules (how fast to fill a canceled slot, which patients get priority, which providers can see which types) and Starch builds an automation that reads cancellations from your calendar or EHR, identifies candidates from your waitlist, and drafts a rebooking text or email the front desk sends with one click. Most clinics cut effective no-show rates 30-50% within a month.
Can it handle insurance follow-up and denials?
As a custom app, yes. You describe your aging buckets (30/60/90 days) and denial codes you chase, and Starch builds a tracker that pulls the denial list from your billing system (via browser automation if needed), drafts appeal letters from your templates, and surfaces the weekly chase list for your billing person. It doesn't submit claims — it prepares the work so the human spends time on decisions, not copy-paste.
What about new-patient intake and referral thank-yous?
Connect your website form and Gmail or Outlook. Describe your intake flow — what info you collect, which provider fits which condition, what the welcome sequence looks like. Starch triages inquiries, drafts welcome emails with intake paperwork attached, and for referred patients, drafts the thank-you note to the referring provider. Referring-provider relationships are a durable growth channel most clinics under-invest in.
Can I see provider utilization across the clinic?
Yes. Starch reads Google Calendar or Outlook (Tier 1 sync) and your EHR schedule (via the integration browser or browser automation), and builds a utilization dashboard showing booked vs available hours by provider, by week. You describe the view you want — utilization targets, service mix, new-patient share — and it refreshes live. Useful for weekly ops meetings and hiring decisions.
Is this HIPAA-compliant?
Honest answer: Starch is not SOC 2 Type II certified yet, and there's no on-prem option. We can sign BAAs on a case-by-case basis during beta — flag your clinic type and data scope during signup. For workflows that keep PHI inside your EHR (where Starch orchestrates around it rather than storing it), the risk profile is manageable. For workflows that require moving PHI into Starch's database, we'll walk through it with you before you connect anything.
